In the same age group Monica Malagala took the girls title with a putt of 13.30m, in the discus a throw of 32.41m brought her a silver medal whilst in the hammer throw a distance of 43,22m was the reward of a pb and 5th place. After his success in all the championships this season it was a rare defeat for Joshua Babalola in the under 15 boys hammer. A throw of 52.98m, whilst below his best of 58.30m earlier in the month at Stoke, this time put into second place as William Stander of Woodford Green came up with a pb of 53.32. Another huge win from the home EYAL fixture made it impossible for the three clubs chasing CAC to make headway, despite notching up their fourth victory - as mentioned previously the fixture list was to avoid last season’s top four clubs meeting.

Our success came through solid team work as each age group, girls and boys, took the pole position. It is this that has brought about us retaining the league title (Havering have a fixture left but require 868 points to overhaul us), now we should look to retain the end of season `CUP FINAL` on 8th September at Shaftesbury Barnet.

Where should one start. Not only many individual wins but a glut of personal bests throughout the day.

The under 13 boys saw Motiejus Norkus (4.47m) and Max Good (4.42) up their previous best in the long jump whilst Bevan Dove with 21.86m did likewise in the discus after a win in the shot putt. Mat Vickers as the `B` string ensured that these two events brought maximum points.  The 800 metres also gave us double success via Mason Sanford and Thomas Burgoyne. It was to be the field events that the under 15 boys took most satisfaction. Jeremy Andersen with a pb in the high jump(1.60m) and shot putt (16.15m) and taking second spot in the discus. George Dixon (12.2s) and Jake Read (12.6s) won over the hurdles with pb`s George also improved on his javelin best. Back to the track and it was a good win for Jacob Parrott over the 1500 metres. From the under 17`s there came many full points. James Becker and Harry Marshall dominated the sprints, Dylan Robins(800m) and Thomas Carter (1500m) led the way home with support from Ben Smith and Austin Kelly. Stephen Adesina won the pole vault, long jump and shot putt, Harry Lee first over the hurdles and `B` string long jump. And then to Oscar Dove setting pb`s at both triple jump (11.35m) and hammer (46.51m).

And so to the girls and here it`s difficult to keep up with the pb`s. In the under 13`s Shindra Adeyemo came up with three – hurdles (12.0s), long jump (4.30m) and the shot putt (8.58m). Hannah Bello `B`string shot, Maddie Moss -javelin- Orla Martin and Georgia Matthews both achieved pb`s in picking up full points over the 800m as did Isla Kehoe in the 1500m. No different as we move to the under 15`s. Alicja Yalaju won with her best times over the 100m and 300m supported in the later by Erin Kelly also setting her best time - as indeed she had indeed done over the 800m earlier in the day. Lily Sanford in the 800m came up with her best as did Ava King in the 1500m. Chelsea Clarke had an outstanding day with three wins - hurdles, high jump and long jump and all improvement`s on her best. Maximum points from the throws with Monica Malagala winning the shot, discus and hammer. There was also trebles for Matilda Hewitt in the under 17`s throws with her best coming from the shot putt - a pb of 13.10m. Lily Frost, discus, and Sophie Gardner, shot, won the `B` strings. Sophie Catchpole and Milana Thorpe took full points from the hurdles, Sophie also won over the 300m with Sienna Shipton taking the `B` race. Sienna also ensured that full points came from the 800m together with Lottie Wilkin, and the triple jump with Olivia Hall. Daisy Stollery provided a win in the 1500 and to wrap things up the 4 x 100 relay brought about another first.

There is a children's ditty, The wheels of the bus go round and round, round and round all.... For our seniors unfortunately the last two league matches it`s changed to a 1965 song by the New Minstrels - Three Wheels on my wagon.

In the National League there were hopes of a second place in the table and edge out Havering for a place in the final at Bedford. These hopes were dashed as we slipped to fourth place behind Shaftesbury 622, Havering 500 and Herts. Phoenix 487 with our 455. Never the less some fine performances were put in. Paul Grange again over the 800 metres ran 1m 57.79s for second place with Joe Abbott taking first in the `B` race on 2m 01.45s. Moving up to the 1500m Ben Felton came up with a pub of 4m 03.18s - this after winning the 3000m in a season`s best of 8m 49.30s. Maximum points were gained in the 110m hurdles via Rhys Collings and Luke Keteleers - Rhys a pb of 16.74s.    Sam Wright in both long and high jump with support from Temil Johnson-Alo and Charlie Pyner ensured that good points were gained here whilst Kevin Wilson contested all four throwing events.

On the ladies side Etty Sisson making her debut finished third in the 400 - paving the way for Georgia Tombs to take the second string in 59.90s. Georgia also contested the 100 and 200 metres. Ruby Vinton and Hannah Bolton each placed second in their 800m races Hannah later coming up with a pb of 5m 33.88s in the steeplechase. It was the throws bringing the best rewards however with Jess Hopkins winning the shot  putt and second in the discus, sister Maegan placed second in the shot and Charlotte Graham second in the discus.

Just a week later and it was into a Southern League fixture in which clearly Windsor would be stern opposition. As it turned out with 289 points they were pushed by the hosts Medway with 279 with Norwich on 258, Woking 232, Chelmsford 185 and Basingstoke 133. After the earlier season results CAC still occupy fifth place in the table.

From the men's sprints James Becker continued with excellent form setting a pb of 22.19s for the 200 metres. An early event, the 800 metres, brought full points from Luke Oliver (1m 57.54s) and Jacob Alexander ((2m 01.63s). Jacob was to go on and record pb`s in the 400m hurdles and steeplechase taking the `B`string honours after Joseph Grange won the event in 10m 09.0s for his own pb. It was full points also in the 1500m with Paul Grange and Ben Felton leading the way home, Ben also won over the longer distance of 5000 metres. Rhys Collings improved on his best set the previous week with 16.14s over the 110 metre hurdles. Kevin Wilson and Yasha Bobash picked up full points from the shot putt and valuable points in the other throwing events.

On the women's side Lottie Wilkin placed third in the 800 metres with Daisy Stollery (2m 17.37s) having her best time when winning the `B` result. Lucy Nuttall third in the 1500m put in her best time whilst in the triple jump Grace Tremelling also achieve this. Charlotte Graham first in the discus and second in hammer also contested the shot and javelin. With these performances one most wonder how come so far away in the team result. Well unfortunately there were many events that we failed to put out competitors.  From our early season turn outs we have missed what must be considered our star performers and as we rely on many under 17`s with schools events and now escalated by the holiday period we find that we do not have the back up of numbers as the likes of Windsor who flooded the events with non-scorers.

As they say `things can only get better'.
