Schools Cross Country 23/24 Season
All races covered by UKAthletics Licence No CC2024/1231

As we move in to autumn the new Cross Country is fast approaching.
We have made a few changes to this years league, firstly we are delighted to announce that we are partnering with Edmund Carr LLP who are very kindly sponsoring each race.

A few words from our Sponsors Edmund Carr LLP

Edmund Carr is a Chelmsford based company, providing accountancy services to local businesses and individuals. We have a long history of supporting community events and the name may be familiar to you as for over 25 years, we sponsored the Great Baddow Charity 10 mile and 2 mile fun runs.
Having taken a break, we are now pleased to again be associated with the Chelmsford Athletics Club as the sponsor for the Primary School Cross Country Series. We hope that by giving our support to this popular event, we may be able to make a difference to local school children in encouraging and nurturing a love for athletics that will last a lifetime.

The second big change this season will be the location, this year the races will be held at the beautiful Hylands Park in Writtle.
And lastly we are adding the Year 3 age group.

Entry is now open for this seasons League via the form below.

The race schedule for this season is as follows....

The League is FREE to enter and is open to all Primary Schools that wish to take part.
This season there will be an Individual and Team competition for both boys and girls in years 3, 4, 5 & 6.
- Individual competition – runners score points at each race based on their race position i.e. 1st place = 1 point,
2nd place = 2 points and so on. Athletes must compete in at least 3 out of the 4 races throughout the season to score an overall position with their best 3 results being added together and the lowest points total winning.
- Team Competition – schools will need at least 4 competitors in each race to gain a team score which consists of adding the 4 finishing positions together with the lowest total winning. The winning team will get 1 point, 2nd team 2 points and so on. Teams will need to compete in at least 3 out of the 4 races throughout the season to score an overall position with their best 3 points being added together and the lowest points total winning. (Please note you can run more then 4 athletes in each race should you wish).
In addition to the League races some athletes will be invited to attend the Chelmsford Junior Endurance Group that run on Tuesday and Friday evenings on the track at Chelmsford Sports & Athletics Centre. These sessions are run by Chelmsford AC Endurance Coach David Fewell who coached both our U13'S & U15 Girls teams to become the 2024 National Cross Country Champions (pictured below) a feat that has never been done before by a single coach. The Endurance Group is also a feeder in to Chelmsford AC.
Chelmsford AC have won team medals for the last 3 seasons at the National Cross Country Championships and the National Road Running Championships with most of these athletes coming through from the Junior groups.
If you have any questions about the League, the Junior Endurance sessions or if you’d like to discuss
any other ways in which Chelmsford AC could support your school, please click here to email David Fewell the Race Organiser.
