The Essex Schools multi events championships staged at the Brentwood School track provided Chelmsford with one winner, a second a third and fourth from the large
entries.
The under 17 category, Edward Hughes took first place with 2734 points with performances of 400m 53.4s, hurdles 13.9s., long jump 5.94m., shot putt 9.07m. and javelin 26.73m. Also in this event Stephen Adesina efforts were 61.0s, 16.1s, 6.00m, 11.37m and 25.75m. for a score of 2354 for 3rd place. In the same age group in the girls Sophie Catchpole second place of 2686 points came from the 200m of 27.2s, hurdles 12.2s, long jump 4.72m, shot 7.97 and javelin 22.55m
Both the under 15 girls and boys found four of our members competing. In the former Amelie Scott placed third with 2686 points – 800m 2m 53.3s, hurdles 12.0s, high jump 1.35m, long jump 5.07, shot putt 9.95, Alicja Yalaju placed 5th from performances of 2m38.9s, 13.2s, 1.45m, 4.26m. and 7.63m. Chelsea Clarke finished 10th with 2226 points and Katie Case 11th with 2212 points. Our leading under 15 boy was Arsenii Handzi as he finished 4th with 2356 points from 800m 2m24.7s, hurdles 13.4s, high jump 1.65m, long jump 5.27m. and shot 6.34m. Marcus Fazackerley finishe 11th with 1997 points, Charlie Pyner 13th with 1955 and Harry Lee 19th with 1797 points.
