South of England Champs Rundown


A haul of five golds, two silver and one bronze medals for our members at this prestigious meeting staged at Walton on Thames. Our star has to be Kissiwaa Mensah as she took the 200 metre title for under 20's on day one with 24.65s then returned the following day to win the 400 metres with a personal best of 56.47 seconds. There were other outstanding performances from our under 20-year athletes with Onyeka Okoh lifting the 400 hurdles title with 52.99s, Will Steadman the 800 with 1min 56.80s and Maegan Hopkins the shot putt with a personal best of 13.60m. Maegan also contested the discus placing fourth with 35.75m. In the senior ranks sister Jess with 13.78m in the shot placed second also competing in the discus where 37.64m placed 8th. Back to the track and Kiera Atkinson (above) with 18m 56.19s claimed our other silver medal whilst amongst the senior ranks Bradley Reed took bronze in the 110m hurdles.

Just outside the medals Jack Hughes with a PB of 4.10m was 4th in the pole vault.

Other members there were Holly Watson - 800m 2m 18.79s finishing 5th, Grace Tremelling - long jump 4.82m and Nneka Okoh just out of the under 17 age group and just missing out on the final of the 200m with 4th in her heat with 26.70s.
